Amway Quixtar, is it worth it?
Q. I just got back from another Amway presentation. This one was different in that it is an online selling method. But I've noticed in every one of these pyramid things I've been to or heard about, that there is ALWAYS some 21 year old millionare, either present or bragged about. What's with the 21 year old success story that all of these pyramid companies seem to have? This is just weird to me, every time there is a 21 year old ultra success guy. I read some statistics that say only 0.82% of people that invest in this thing, only make about $100 a month. Would you invest in this Amway Quixtar thing? They make it sound really worth it, but I've noticed some weird things that make me skeptical. I've been to about five different… [cont.]

A. Hi ibofb, Let me just point out your contradictions: This is how you defined a pyramid company: not based around earning income through recruiting. With Amway, you try to talk your friends into being members, not just into being customers of Amway products. Where is the difference? Talking to your friends is not enough because if they ended up to be just customers, you will not earn money, your up-line does. On the other hand, if they followed through and convinced other people into the business, you make money, and those people will have to get their friends to join in, and the cycle goes on. Whether the end result is earning or not earning money, you still have to convince people into joining in oh wait that sounds a lot synonymous… [cont.]

A. Completely legal and completely legitimate. Corporate headquarters are in Grand Rapids, Michigan (in a suburb). They have been in business since the 70's. The Amway products are a little pricey but top notch. Wish I could still afford them.

What's everyone's take on the Amway/Quixtar business; was the experience good or bad?
Q. About three months ago, I joined the Amway business and signed up as an LTD member, and let me say, it's been stressful ever since. All the relationships I formed at the function in Kansas City are fakes. They are just after my money. You see I'm a graphic designer, a recent college grad that has a job that doesn't pay me good enough to move out of my parents house. So I have been looking for a full time job in a tight economy which is stressful alone. I'm kinda going back to school part time to better my skills and built a website for my mom, and got paid really well for that. Three months ago, I was suckered into Amway hoping that I would make enough money and be a multi-millionaire and be what every calls "free" but it didn't… [cont.]

A. I wrote a post a while back titled Amway is not a Scam but you can still be scammed in which I spoke about th fact that Amway is a great business but you can have a bad experience, even be scammed, depending on who you're working with. It's all about people. You can join one person and/or group within Amway and not relate to them at all (and vice versa) and have the worst experience of your life. Or you can join another person and/or group, also with Amway, and relate fantastically (and vice versa!) and have the best experience in your life. The funny thing is of course that a group you feel terrible in, someone else may feel great it, and a group they thought was horrible, you'd adore. It's one of the things about Amway, and network… [cont.]

How to convince my friends stuck in Amway/Quixtar that it is the biggest modern CULT and SCAM of the century?
Q. I was an IBO with Amway/Quixtar for one month and did research and found it that this is big CULT and SCAM and quit it recently. Thanks GOD I did not lose much. But there are many of my friends who are doing this, and are completely brainwashed by this crooked system. They keep on investing time/effort/money in this business and buying their heavily prived products and are not gaining anything now but believe that they will one day. I am looking to gather some real proofs that this is in fact a CULT and a SCAM. Your help is needed. A. This is tough to do because, while you are trying to point out the truth to them, their upline is calling you a "Negative Person" and probably many other things. They have to learn on their own. With some people, like yourself, they see through it almost right away and don't lose too much money. Others are so brainwashed that they will never see it. I knew someone who had sunk about $50,000 into Quixtar over 7 or 8 years but they were still conviced that Quixtar was going to make them rich someday. Even though they made about $150,000 per year at their "jobs", they were near bankruptcy and Quixtar had a lot to do with it. Have you tried Quixtar / Amway? ?
Q. My fiance is really intersted in trying the Quixtar thing.. he even went to a seminar, I am wary of this type of program and am looking for more opinions. I think it would be easier to build our own online ebay store than it would to do this.. I have read into this stuff before and did not see it going anywhere. Has anyone here tried it or do you know of a reliable and fact based site that will provide pros and cons with real life users / naysayers?
Asked by beckon W - Thu Oct 9 13:10:19 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The success of one individual in any business is up to that individual. You can't take up opinions of those who have succeeded and those who have failed in their business. Each person is different. If your fiance wants to do quixtar then you shouldn't doubt his integrity. If he feels that he can make a good business out of it, then you should be supportive of him. If he doesn't want to do quixtar then you should accept that too. All businesses like these give incredible income opportunities, but it's up to the individual to achieve that goal. It doesn't matter what industry it is.

Asked by Shelly H - Wed Jan 16 08:45:56 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It is not a scam. It is not a cult. It is a people business for leaders to build teams. It is a very profitable business for people who take the time to grow it and devote time to it. You are sure to get some negative feedback along with positive feedback but I wouldn't take to heart the negative. A good analogy would be the person who buys the gym membership, doesn't go to the gym and complains that they didn't lose weight. Just like anything else, It takes time and effort. Nothing comes free and it is in no way a get-rich scheme. However, if you do spend the time you will find yourself utterly successful. My godfather has been in the business for a 5-10 years and he is probably the most incredible leaders that I know and yes, he… [cont.]

A. Is it a legit business opportunity? Yes. Will you make any money at it? No, probably not. The Quixtar "Diamonds" (top distibutors) have a dirty little secret that they don't want you to know. Most (75%-90%) of their income comes from selling "tools". Tools are the training materials and seminars. You will be told that these tools are optional but you will be highly encouraged to purchase the items and attend the seminars. Someone I know has spent almost $50,000 on their Quixtar business over the past 7 or 8 years. They have grossed about $8000 in commissions. So, yes, they have lost about $42,000 since 2001 or so. A. Amway is one of America's largest private companies and one of the world's largest retailers. It's the second largest direct selling company after Avon. The company has won awards from organisations like the UN, UNICEF, and the American Chamber of Commerce, to name just three of literally hundreds of awards won by Amway around the world. It's not a scam, but like any business it takes time and hard work to succeed. Every year in North America hundreds of *new* people qualify at the Platinum level and higher - where you effectively earn a full-time income for a part-time business. If you treat it like a business and are willing to work hard it can be worth the effort. If you don't, then you're unlikely to make any money. Most people don't, [cont.]

A. The Nutrilite brand of vitamins is owned by Amway (Quixtar is the North American business brand of Amway) but it actually goes back much further than Amway. It started in 1934 and was the *first* multivitamin. The main product, Double X, and most other Nutrilite supplements, are made from all-natural plant components (not synthetic vitamins, like many store brands). Nutrilite is used by top athletes like Asafa Powell, the World Record holder in 100 meters, and Liu Xiang, the World Record holder in 110m hurdles, and Jenn Stuczynski, American Record Holder in pole vault. Nutrilite is sold worldwide through Amway and has a strong customer base -- it's the world's leading multivitamin supplement in tablet form based on sales. For… [cont.]

They use what is called "multi-level marketing". I know enough about this buisiness model to know that some multi-level marketing companies are little more than pyramid schemes. However, I also know that not all multi-level marketing companies are pyramid schemes, and Amway was investigaved for it and cleared of it already by the FTC clear back in 1979. Most people end up spending much more money than they make. There is a secret within the Quixtar distributors that they don't want you to know. Most (75%-90%) of the money made by the people at the top of the pyramid, is made from the "tools" (DVDs, tapes, cds, seminars).
